How Did DS Divers Malta Begin?
DS Divers Malta, originally known as Buceo Malta, was founded by a Franco-Spanish couple, Laurent and Rosa. For several years, they dedicated themselves to offering diving services primarily to the Spanish-speaking community. Among their many students was Diego Scuro, who, after completing his Open Water course with them, found himself drawn deeper into the world of diving. Eventually, he and his partner, Genesis Jiménez, took over the diving centre, carrying forward its mission and legacy.
As Diego and Genesis continued to train Spanish-speaking divers, they formed a close friendship with Diego Sánchez, a well-known PADI Course Director. Their strong professional bond and shared vision for diving education led them to join forces, rebranding the centre as DS Divers Malta. This partnership not only strengthened their presence in the Spanish-speaking market but also helped establish DS Divers Malta as the go-to dive centre for Spanish speakers on the island.
Both Diego Scuro and Diego Sánchez have since gained recognition beyond the diving community, featuring on television programmes such as Viajero 4 and Castellanos Manchegos, further expanding their influence within the Spanish market.
DIEGO SCURO
A Venezuelan diving instructor, Diego Scuro discovered his passion for the underwater world at an early age. He completed his first diving course at the age of 16, although he had already been practising spearfishing alongside his father prior to that. With an unwavering love for diving and a passion for sports, Diego brings an infectious energy to his teaching, making every dive an engaging and memorable experience.
He is known for balancing professionalism and discipline with a flexible and approachable teaching style. His ability to adapt to his students’ needs ensures a comfortable and safe learning environment. Thanks to his extensive experience, Diego has developed an outstanding teaching methodology, helping even the most hesitant students gain confidence and proficiency in diving through a meticulous and personalised approach.
GENESIS JIMÉNEZ
A Venezuelan diving instructor, naturopath, and fitness coach, Genesis Jiménez stands out for her dynamic and energetic approach to teaching. Her multidisciplinary background allows her to provide a holistic diving experience, focusing not only on technical skills but also on the overall well-being of her students.
Her unique approach integrates breathing techniques, mindfulness, and physical preparation, helping divers enhance their performance and fully enjoy their underwater adventures. Genesis is widely recognised for her ability to inspire and motivate her students, creating a supportive and empowering learning environment that encourages divers to reach their personal and professional goals beneath the waves.
